Letting Go to Grow: What Sacrifice Means for a Busy Mompreneur
As the new year begins, I find myself embracing a tradition that has brought focus and intention to my journey: choosing a Word of the Year. This year, my word is Sacrifice—a powerful and challenging choice. It’s not an easy word, and it’s definitely not one to take lightly. But as I reflect on my life as a mompreneur, I see how necessary it is to lean into this word and what it represents.
Sacrifice, for me, is about reevaluating everything: my schedule, priorities, habits, and even my day-to-day lifestyle. I’ve always been someone who wants to do it all. If I’m passionate about something, I give it 110%. But this year, I’m learning the importance of balance, time management, and—most importantly—learning to say “no” when needed.
Learning to Let Go
Can you relate? Do you struggle with letting go of certain tasks, goals, or even commitments that don’t serve you in the present? I’ve always had a hard time saying “no.” It feels like I’m supposed to be doing so much all the time. But as I grow, I’m starting to understand that timing is everything.
Sometimes, the things I want to do aren’t meant to happen right now. Instead, they’re part of God’s plan for me in a different season. Patience isn’t my strong suit, but I’ve seen how His timing is always better than mine. It’s often not until I look back that I can see how everything fell into place just when it was supposed to.
This year, I’m focusing on sacrificing my need to control every detail and trusting that His plan is greater than my own.
Grace in the Process
Becoming more Christ-like is a journey, not a destination. It requires daily effort, intention, and a whole lot of grace. Some days, I’ll get it right. Other days, I’ll fall short. But that’s okay—because God’s mercy and love are constant, even in my failures.
I want to encourage you with this truth: no matter how many times you get it wrong, God’s grace is enough. He sees you, loves you, and is walking with you every step of the way.
My Prayer for 2025
This year, my prayer is for clarity—clarity in God’s plans and priorities for my life. I want to confidently say “yes” to what aligns with His will and “no” to what doesn’t fit this season. It’s not easy, but I know it’s necessary for my growth, my family, and my faith.
I pray the same for you. May God reveal your path, guide your steps, and give you peace as you move forward in obedience and faith.
